There's such a wealth of great Christian books an so many pressing issues, drop us a line and we will do our best to find the books that you need.

The Books for Life team received the following message:

I am a Student studying Theology at University. During my time at University, I have had to face a number of challenges about my Gender and my calling into Ministry. I would love to read something that helps me as a woman to feel comforted against attacking opinions and to help educate others about the position of women in the Church.

This a hotly debated topic in the church and there are fine Christians on both sides of this debate. But sadly, we sometimes we don't treat each other well when we disagree. It sounds like this is what has happened to this student. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have your very vocation challenged in the place where you have gone to get equipped to obey God's call on your life. Well, some of the books on this list will give you great encouragement.

I have sometimes heard people argue they have never heard a biblical case for women in leadership. Well to the people that argue this way I would say they have not looked very hard as there are wealth of good books arguing on biblical grounds for the egalitarian case. I don't expect everyone to agree on this issue, but we can at least respect that there are bible believing Christians who come to different conclusions on this issue and treat eachother with the love and grace of Christ.

Here are the best books that present a biblically compelling case for women in leadership (otherwise known as Egalitarianism.)

Short, sweet and very well argued from a fine, well respected, evangelical biblical scholar.

A very readable volume dealing with large swathes of scripture and engaging many of the contemporary issues on this topic.

Testimonies from a wide range of evangelical leaders about how they changed their mind on the role of women in church.

A gracious and engaging book that records the correspondence between two evangelical women one who is complimentarian and the other egalitarian. A model of loving disagreement.

A major contemporary New Testament scholar writes about hermeneutics and how it applies to the contemporary debate on the roles of women.

Why not write to us and set the Books for life team the next reading challenge to try and solve.
