Books to help with evangelism?

We love receiving questions on the Books for life website and we were delighted to hear from a school student who asked:

Hi, I would love to find book that would help me build a community in my school that wants to love the last, the least and the lost and possibly introduce them to Jesus. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What a fantastic question, indeed this question should challenge all of us to consider our evangelistic passion. Many of us know the challenges of being open about our faith in the current cultural context and yet here is someone in one of the more challenging situations in our culture who is keen to be open about their faith.

So thank you for this excellent question and the provocation it is to all of us:

1. Out of the Salt Shaker by Rebecca Manley Pippert

This is brilliantly readable book is an excellent introduction to friendship evangelism. Through story telling and engagement with the Bible, Pippert helps us all feel more confident about talking about Jesus.

2. Suprise the World: The Five Habits of Highly Missional People

Mike Frost offers a fresh take on a monastic rule of life to help Christians develop patterns of living that will make mission a normal part of every day life.

3. What's so amazing about Grace by Philip Yancey

A great book to explore one of the most important ideas at the heart of the Christian faith. A strong grasp of grace is essential to foster a community that will want to share it's faith.

4. FRESH by Krish Kandiah

Here's a book designed to prepare students for university but is equally applicable in sixth form. It offers an integrated way of developing stronger faith, a godly lifestyle, confidence in the gospel and a way of approaching study that honours Christ.
